WiFi & Connection Questions

To connect your printer to WiFi, follow these general steps:

  1. Turn on your printer and make sure it's in range of your WiFi router.
  2. On the printer's control panel, navigate to Settings or Network.
  3. Select Wireless Setup Wizard or WiFi Setup.
  4. Choose your WiFi network name (SSID) from the list.
  5. Enter your WiFi password carefully (it is case-sensitive).
  6. Wait for the printer to connect — a confirmation will appear.

Steps vary by brand and model. Call us at +1 (844) 706-3285 and we'll walk you through it for your specific printer.

Wireless printers can disconnect from WiFi for several reasons: your router may have assigned the printer a different IP address, your WiFi signal may be weak in the printer's location, the router's DHCP lease may have expired, or your printer's firmware may need updating.

The best solution is to assign your printer a static (fixed) IP address so it always stays connected. Our technicians can configure this for you — call +1 (844) 706-3285.

After changing your router or WiFi password, you'll need to reconnect your printer to the new network. On most printers, you can do this through the printer's control panel by going to Network Settings and running the Wireless Setup Wizard again with your new network name and password.

If your printer doesn't have a touchscreen, the process may require pressing a combination of buttons. Call us and we'll guide you through it quickly.

To print from an iPhone or iPad, use AirPrint — select the document, tap the Share icon, choose Print, and select your AirPrint-compatible printer. Your printer and phone must be on the same WiFi network.

For Android, use Google Cloud Print (older Android) or your printer brand's app (HP Smart, Canon PRINT, Epson iPrint, Brother iPrint). We can set this up for you over the phone.

Printer Offline & Not Printing

A printer shows "offline" when your computer cannot communicate with it. The most common causes are:

  • The printer is turned off or in sleep mode
  • The printer is not connected to your WiFi network
  • The "Use Printer Offline" mode is enabled in Windows
  • A stalled or stuck print job is blocking the queue
  • The print spooler service has stopped
  • A USB cable or port issue

Call +1 (844) 706-3285 and our technicians will diagnose and fix your offline printer in minutes.

If your printer is on but not printing, the most likely causes are a paused or stuck print queue, the print spooler service has crashed, incorrect printer is set as default, an error state the printer is stuck in, or a driver communication failure.

Try canceling all pending print jobs and restarting both your printer and computer. If that doesn't work, call us at +1 (844) 706-3285 for fast remote assistance.

When a printer is stuck in an error state, try these steps: (1) Turn the printer off and unplug it for 60 seconds. (2) Cancel all print jobs in your print queue. (3) Restart the Print Spooler service in Windows Services. (4) Turn the printer back on.

If the error persists, it may be related to a specific printer error code or driver issue that requires a deeper fix. Our technicians handle this type of issue daily.

Driver & Installation Questions

To install printer drivers on Windows: (1) Go to the manufacturer's official website and search for your printer model. (2) Download the correct driver for your version of Windows (10 or 11, 32-bit or 64-bit). (3) Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions. (4) When prompted, connect your printer via USB or WiFi to complete the installation.

You can also use Windows Update (Settings → Windows Update → Optional Updates) which sometimes includes printer drivers. Call us if you're unsure which driver to download for your specific model.

On Mac, go to System Settings (or System Preferences) → Printers & Scanners → Click the "+" button to add a printer. macOS will often automatically download the correct drivers. If not, download the driver package from the printer manufacturer's website, install it, and then add the printer.

After macOS updates, drivers sometimes need to be reinstalled. Our technicians are experienced with all macOS versions including Ventura and Sonoma.

A "driver unavailable" error means Windows cannot find a compatible driver for your printer. This commonly occurs after a Windows update that made the old driver incompatible. The solution is to uninstall the current printer and driver completely, then reinstall using the latest driver from the manufacturer's website.

This process can be tricky if previous driver files are not fully removed. Call +1 (844) 706-3285 and we'll handle the full reinstall remotely for you.

Paper Jam & Print Quality Questions

To safely clear a paper jam: (1) Turn off your printer. (2) Open all access doors — front, rear, and duplexer. (3) Slowly and gently pull jammed paper in the direction of the paper path — never force it backward. (4) Check for small torn pieces and remove them. (5) Close all doors, reload paper correctly in the tray, and turn the printer back on.

If your printer shows a jam error but there's no visible paper, or jams keep recurring, call us — there may be a foreign object or worn roller causing the issue.

Faded prints or streaks are usually caused by low ink or toner, clogged print heads (inkjet printers), a dirty drum or fuser (laser printers), or incorrect print settings. Run the print head cleaning utility from your printer software, and check ink/toner levels.

If cleaning doesn't improve quality, the print heads may need a deeper clean or replacement. Call our technicians for guidance specific to your printer model.

To share a printer between computers on the same network: On Windows, go to Control Panel → Devices and Printers, right-click your printer, select Printer Properties → Sharing tab, and enable sharing. On the second computer, go to Add a Printer and select the shared network printer.

Both computers need to be on the same network and the sharing computer must be turned on to print. For wireless printers, network sharing is often simpler — all computers connect directly to the printer via WiFi.
